Arimidex

ARIMIDEX is approved for adjuvant treatment (treatment following surgery with or without radiation) of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.

Aromatase is an enzyme that is found in the liver, fat, muscle, and breast cancer cells

In women who are postmenopausal, aromatase changes androgens (hormones produced in the adrenal glands) to the hormone estrogen

Some breast cancer tumors grow when the hormone estrogen is present

ARIMIDEX is a medication called an aromatase inhibitor. ARIMIDEX works by blocking aromatase, therefore reducing the amount of estrogen in the body

Also I've seen patients spell this Arrimidex - sounds like an arrhythmia of sorts?
